Many of you know that Nguyen's mother suffers from Parkinson's Disease. Today on Oprah, Michael J. Fox was a guest along with Dr. Oz. I made sure I TiVo'd this episode because I have become increasingly interested in this disease for obvious reasons.


I was really excited to hear that a cure for this disease will be found in the very near future. Dr. Oz said that scientists are extremely close and that we should see a cure less than ten years from now. AMAZING!


Although Parkinson's has personally effected our family, Michael J. Fox said some really encouraging things that deeply touched me and that I know would touch many of my fellow bloggers and readers...


"Though Michael has learned to accept his disease and embrace his life, he says there are still days when he thinks, "This sucks."


"Having said that, somebody said to me one time that happiness grows in direct proportion to your acceptance and in inverse proportion to your expectations," he says. "So if you can just kind of say: 'Well, this is what I have today. Now, I didn't have a choice about this, but I have a million other choices I can make today. I can choose where I go. I can choose how I feel about where I go.' … If I make those choices well, I'm going to be a happy person."


That's pretty much been my outlook for a while, but it's nice to have someone, other than myself, vocalize my thoughts. What an awesome attitude! Our life is what we make of it. There are instances in everyone's lives where we could easily say "this sucks" or "life isn't fair" and simply give up, walk away, or just have a sour attitude. What's the point in that?


Is it surprising to anyone that Gabby has made me more optimistic than ever before? Even when I look at my Mother in law I am inspired. Yeah, it's not an ideal situation, but it's no reason to lay in bed all day and give up hope. We push forward. We persevere. We make the best of what life has to offer.


So Oprah was the source of my excitement for the day. I am already looking into starting a fundraiser to aid in advancements in research and to hopefully SOON, find a cure for PD. For more information on how you can help, visit

These were taken last weekend when we decided to take an impromptu trip to San Francisco. Unfortunately, my camera never left the hotel room so this is pretty much the extent of the pictures I took.

To get an idea of how big of a weenie I am...Taking these pictures freaked me out. I kept pulling Cam away from the window like he was actually going to fall or something. Irrational, I know.


This was yesterday. The weather was gorgeous so we did a mini photo shoot!



Even Sammy did a little posing.




Cameron wasn't really interested in getting his picture taken. He was, however, interested in drinking the last of my Caramel Macchiato.

I have surfed the web as much as I care to for the past half hour and so here I sit in silence in my home (a very RARE occassion, indeed.)

I helped host a baby shower this afternoon for my lovely friend and neighbor, Debbie, who is due to give birth to a bouncing baby boy in four weeks. Baby showers make me so happy. All of the sweet little socks and mittens, diaper cakes, clothes...melts my heart. Don't go getting any crazy ideas though...I definitely don't have the fever yet and don't plan on getting it for at least a few more years.

So here I sit with both kids fast asleep taking their afternoon naps. My husband must be playing video games because I haven't heard or seen him in a while ;)

There is no real point to this post. It's just been so long since I have sat at my computer with NOTHING to do...no kids to tend to; no homework to be done (okay so that's a stretch...I definitely have homework but it's not pertinent that I do it this instant, okay?) The house is clean, and the weather is AMAZING.

Ahhhh.

Just felt like bragging and stuff.

OH- one not so cool thing...I found another one of those spots today, only this time, on my back. How irritating. I sure hope my doctor can figure this out before I turn into a leopard.

Alrighty, so the mystery spot....is still a mystery! A nurse from my doctor's office called and said the dermatology department believes my rash to be "benign" and so not to worry. She did call in a prescription ointment and advised me to take 1000mg of Vitamin C per day. I sent her an email asking about the Vitamin C and what the thought process was behind that and haven't heard back yet.

Other than that, nothing terribly exciting is going on with us. Cameron is still enduring the "mommy would like to sleep in her own bed ALONE" bootcamp and it's going terribly okay. The past two nights he has made it until about 4am in his bed on the floor and then gives up and says

"I just have a stuffy nose...I'll try again tomorrow night."

What a sweet little dude, but seriously, I want my bed back!


It also seems that my son has unfortunately inherited my allergies. Along with those wretched allergies comes the bloody noses. They make him ANGRY.


Today I picked him up from school and he started getting all emotional on me before we even got out of the classroom. I asked him what was up and he just kept telling me he was "sad" as he tried to fight off the tears.

Later in the car, he was still being super-sensitive and was rubbing on his ears and I immediately thought "great! An ear infection!" but as I prodded for answers he said "my friend gave me a headache in my ear because he was screaming."

I am still not sure if that's the real story or not. He seems to be doing better but is a little sluggish and not his normal spunky self. Time will tell.

Being four seems like a really tough job.

Gabby is doing fan-freaking-tastic. She is still not sitting up yet which is making me really anxious but she is really close, so I guess I can chill out a bit. She is, however, getting up on all fours which I am just ECSTATIC about! She is so determined and has given me a glimpse into what it will be like with a baby on the move. I can tell she is going to be

in.to.everything!!

You know what though, I am ready for that phase! Bring it on!

Hopefully I can get video of her doing her new hands and knees trick. Everytime I pull out the camera she doesn't want to perform. What a stinker.

That's about it from us. The weather this weekend is supposed to be amazing. EIGHTY degrees. I am so excited! But you know what comes along with hot weather in our parts...snakes. We had a warm-ish day last week and as a result, we have a nice little smashed garden snake in our driveway. Puke.

Mystery Diagnosis and other stuff...

Today I visited one of my very favorite places; the doctor's office. (Note the sarcasm) I have had this weird red circular thing on my leg for what seems like forever and as I was getting a beatdown massage last week (how snobby am I?) my therapist asked what the heck this "spot" was. He encouraged me to get it checked out since I have had it for over three months. This lit a fire under me and so I called yesterday to book an appointment. To my surprise, they were able to get me in today. Here is a picture of my weirdness in case anyone cares...





So guess what it is? Anyone....? Yeah, my doctor doesn't know either which is a little concerning. She says the fact that I am not ill and I have had it for 3+ months tells her it's nothing serious, thank goodness. She just kept asking if I or anyone I know have visited any third world countries lately. Hmmmm... nope, don't think so! She snapped a couple of pics and sent me on my way, assuring me that she would have a dermatologist look the photos over. Hopefully I'll know in a few days what this nastiness is.

Okay...I am so sick of writing about ailments.

Here's something interesting...

This little dude was chillin' on my front porch looking all sorts of cuddly. I know birds freak a lot of people out, but I thought he was precious. And check out his ultra hip ankle bracelette!
At first, I could not figure out what kind of bird this was because he appeared to be so round and was obviously a pet. His coloring was that of a pigeon but it didn't register to me that people would actually have pigeons as pets.
After hanging out with him on my porch for a good half hour, I decided he was definitely hurt and needed me to rescue him like I do with any stray creature that happens to come my way
(and yes, this happens a lot...ask my husband.)
I was able to coax him into a dog kennel where he hung out for an hour while I put the babies to bed.


Sammy kept him company.






Cameron was sad to see "Margalo" go home but once he understood that "Margalo" was missing her mom and dad, he was able to say goodbye sans tears. I took the beautiful Margalo to the vet and they were able to identify her owner from her tag.
My husband thinks I am absolutely ridiculous and maybe I am but I couldn't let the poor guy/girl freeze on my porch! I felt good about my actions and I am sure Margalo appreciated it!

You know...one of those posts where I don't talk about anything specific, but rather a bunch of really silly, needless insights into my mind.

*For one, I can't get enough starbucks lately. I need to buy a espresso machine pronto. My wallet would appreciate it.

*I have been feeling so anxious about not blogging. I want to so bad but I just don't have the time. Or, maybe it's just that when I do have the time, I am lacking subject matter (that's the real reason.)

*School sucks. I was originally planning on enrolling for the summer semester, but now that the whole heart surgery thing is happening, I am nixing that idea and I am really happy about it.

*Remember Potty Bootcamp? Well, we're doing something similar now except it's called "Mommy would like to sleep in her own bed without a four year old BOOTCAMP." We're on day two and so far, so good. The ultimate goal is to get him sleeping in his own bed in his own room, but we're taking it slow. He has been coming into our room but he is not allowed to get in our bed. He has a bed on the floor, and I am okay with that... for now.

*Gabby and I are sick again. It ticks me off to even type that out. Whatever. At least there are no fevers involved. Knock on wood.

*Is tomorrow really St. Patty's Day? Guess I need to make some corned beef and cabbage, Mmmm.

*My house is clean right now. I wonder how long that will last.



Okay, so if you're not asleep and drooling all over your keyboard, I apologize for dragging you through my randomness. I can hear my princess singing to herself so I better go get her! Hope you're all having a fabulous Monday!

That's the day. She'll be admitted on the 23rd so they can get all ofthe pre-op work done. It will be an estimated 7-10 day stay.

On the brightside, we'll be having a kickass party now that I know the surgery won't be until after her birthday.
