Happy Thanksgiving!

There are SO many things to be thankful for this year...I couldn't possibly list them all. Most of all, I am thankful for my family, friends, and health. I hope this Thanksgiving finds you well. I wish I could say everyone in my house was feeling happy, healthy and hungry but that would be a lie. Gabby and Nguyen have been hit by the H1N1 bug but are fighting their way through it. Nguyen is almost 100% while Gabby is still feeling under the weather. Luckily, we got a prescription for Tamiflu so she is on her way back to good health. I am so thankful for modern medicine!

.

We had to cancel plans with my mom today since we don't want her to get the nasty germs...so bummed. So, while it isn't the most fun Thanksgiving we've ever had, we're still going to have a good time, spend time with eachother, watch the parade, hang some Christmas lights, and FEAST. We are thankful, indeed.

.

I'll leave you with some pictures of my two sick babies. These were taken two days ago so don't worry....they look a lot better today, haha!

Tonight ESPECIALLY I am thankful for NGUYEN who is sitting upright in our living room with a feverish, snotty, pukey baby on his chest. The snot and the fever I can handle...the yonks- not so much! Thank you Nguyen from saving me from my worst fear ever!! Poor Gabby...and daddy!

All I can do is laugh. We have actually had a decent two months with nothing more than the sniffles so I guess I can get over it, huh?

Monday evening Gabby and I were on our way to run some errands when she yonked in the car. I thought it was a little weird because she was a little more lethargic than she usually is but it was an isolated incident so I figured it was a fluke puke.

Tuesday was uneventful...no yonking to report of.

Wednesday Gabby yonked in the evening before bed and left me a little baffled since we had been to the doctor's office that day for both kids' well-child visits and vaccinations. Was it from that? That wouldn't explain the car episode on monday though. Hmmm...

Thursday at 2am Cameron has a yonk-fest all over MY bed. Luckily I wasn't in it because I can't sleep in a bed with kids (and that's a whole other post entirely!) So Nguyen had clean-up duty. It happened again at 3am :(

Cam has been sleeping on the couch for the last two hours and Gabby is napping in her crib. Cam has a slight fever of just under 102 so I am letting it rage a bit so we can kill those nasty germs. Check out my pitiful babies on Thursday morning.

Cameron kept telling me that Gabby wanted to cuddle with him since they were both "frowing up." So I let them and I got some cute pics out of it :)

They don't look sick do they!?

Hopefully we've experienced the worst of it and we can have a peaceful night tonight.
Oh-and in case anyone cares about the stats of my two adorable kids:
Cameron- 41 inches, 41 pounds 75th percentile
Gabby- (no clue on inches), 14.8 pounds 25th percentile on the Down syndrome curve.
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

I have talked to several moms of children with Ds and a lot of them describe their feelings and emotions as "waves." Today, my wave crashed. I have been so happy and carefree about all of this, but I am just so sick of having sick babies, being sick myself, doctors visits, emergency room visits, urgent care visits, co-pays...ALL OF IT. I'm done. I just want us to be happy and healthy for a solid three months. That's all I ask.

Just got home from the emergency room. Gabby has had a cold for the past couple of days along with a slight fever. Suddenly today, the fever spiked really high and she was also vomiting. She was so miserable. She could hardly cry because she seemed to be so uncomfortable. The combination of the fever and the vomiting had me really paranoid about dehydration and the advice nurse agreed we should come in.

Can I just say that I bet hell is similar in design to the E.R.? No seriously...there is no place more disgusting and scary. Whatever virus gabby didn't have when we got there will probably show up in the next couple of days. I need a shower. So gross.

So anyway, I had given her tylenol about an hour and a half before we got there and when they took her temperature, she was at 102.7 so they dosed her up with some motrin which did the trick within about a half hour. She was suddenly the happy, vibrant girl I know and love.

The doctor finally came in to examine her and he was more concerned with her congestion but he said he didn't think it was anything too serious. Because she was so happy and smiley, he wasn't concerned about dehydration and at that point, I wasn't either.

Now we're home and I am getting ready to make the transfer from her carseat to her crib. I am hoping she will have a good night of sleep since last night wasn't so good. Send good vibes our way.

Night.

Hi, My name is Gabby and I don't feel so good.

Poor baby. She is still croupy but she IS getting better. She's just more tired than usual. She has never passed out while playing before. So pitiful, yet so so cute!
Cameron is doing well and he WILL be going to school tomorrow. I am sick again too but whatever. I actually didn't go to the gym the past couple of days and I have felt really guilty about it since I got on here and claimed there would be "no more excuses." Tonight I am going for sure, even though I feel like crapola!
Hope the cooties are staying away from the rest of you!

Oh what a night!!

Why can't it just be summer all year long? Sometimes I get excited for cold weather, but then nights like last night put me in check.

First of all, it was only a couple of weeks ago that I was complaining of being sick myself and of course, Cameron was dealing with it also. He went to school ONE week in November. We both got better, but never fully recovered as we were both still coughing. Gabby got a little snotty, but nothing to freak out about.

Fast forward to this past week. Cameron was back in school and whaddya know?! Come Friday, he is sick again. Congested, coughing, sluggish, etc. Lovely. And then the princess decides a barking cough sounds like a good idea. By the time night fell, I was totally freaked out and thought a trip to the emergency was in order. She sounded awful and was having a little trouble breathing. It broke my heart.

I put in a call to the advice nurse and she thought I could probably hang out at home until the morning, when they could get us in for an appointment. So I hardly slept a wink, and listened to Gabby breathe all night, making sure it never became too labored for her.

We just got back from our appointment, and as I expected, she has Croup and a touch of asthma. She got a shot in the leg of Dexamethasone and we got sent home with an inhaler we are supposed to administer every four hours. Fun times.

So, we'll be laying low this weekend. Hope everyone else has a good weekend! Have some fun for us :)
