Lets wrap this up being that it is now DECEMBER. Whoa.

Resources- I am so grateful for all who have paved the way before me and who have made it possible for my daughter to have the life she will have. So many have fought to get to where we are today in regards to special needs. We have so many resources available for Gabby that will ensure that she lives up to her maximum potential. Even twenty years ago, this wasn't the case. We are so lucky.

Sleep- Anyone that knows me knows that I am a girl that loves her sleep. When I was younger I could easily sleep until noon every single day. Don't worry though- on the weekends my dad would never let that happen ;) Today, I am lucky if I get to sleep in until 8:30am. One day I'll be able to sleep in again, right?

Teachers- I used to think I wanted to be a teacher someday but I know now that I would never have the patience for such an occupation. I know many teachers...some that taught me, some that teach Cameron, Gabby's therapists, friends down the street, and family members far away. They are all remarkable people with one of the MOST important jobs in the world. I am SO thankful to all of you for doing what you do.

Unicorns??? Yeah, that sounds good.

Vicki- my momma :)

Wendy's chocolate frostys. Have you had one lately?

X- Okay...should I just go ahead and say "x-rays?" Don't laugh. Why don't you try coming up with a word that starts with "X." That's what I thought. So yeah...I'm really thankful for x-rays. Gabby has had quite a few in her short life and they have always showed positive results...no pneumonia, no broken bones, no hip displaysia, and perfectly healed breastbones thanks to the metal wires holding them together!

Yellow. It's just a really nice color.

Z- Okay so this is a little repetitive of "S" but oh well. I am ever so thankful that my husband is the first one to wake up and let's me get my Zzzz's. They are crucial to my sanity!

A post from Nguyen...

Questions.... Without questions we would never have any answers to anything. I can always recall being so scared to question my parents growing up, but as I grew older I realized that it was okay to do so as long as your intentions were good. I hope Cameron and Gabby grow up asking lots and lots of QUESTIONS.

A post from Nguyen...

Personalities... I often think about how everyone is quirky in their own little way and how it makes each person just so unique. I am often reminded of different personalities when I'm playing with both my kids. Cameron is so dramatic and demanding when he wants something while Gabby will sit there with the puppy eyes and guilt you into submission. I love their personalities!

Open Arms... I am thankful for the open arms that are waiting for me from family and friends when I need them. Sometimes a great big hug solves all the world's problems.

Tonight ESPECIALLY I am thankful for NGUYEN who is sitting upright in our living room with a feverish, snotty, pukey baby on his chest. The snot and the fever I can handle...the yonks- not so much! Thank you Nguyen from saving me from my worst fear ever!! Poor Gabby...and daddy!

I am thankful for MOBILITY. Just this morning, Gabby put on a show for me and demonstrated her new trick. We have been working on cruising for about a week and it looks like she has it down! I am so excited. She'll be walking before I know it and I can't wait!!

I am thankful for LEATHER seats in my car because seriously, without them my car would be an even worse disaster then it already is.
.
I know...this one was totally lame. Sorry.

I am thanful for sweet kisses from my kids. Cameron has been such a sweet boy lately and it is not uncommon for him to stop playing for a second to look up at me and say, "mom, I really love you" which he then follows up with a smooch. He's going to be a ladykiller, I know it.
.
Gabby is also an affectionate little love. She learned to kiss or "give loves" as we like to say, about five months ago. Her favorite people to kiss are a) herself whenever she sees a picture or b) a baby doll. That isn't to say that she doesn't give us love too...we get smooches, but only when we ask for them (which is ALL the time!)

It's alright...you can totally roll your eyes at me but I am thankful for JANIE AND JACK. Even though I spend way too much money there, I still adore this store. My kids will appreciate this one day when they look back at all of their photos and see how well-dressed they were...right?

I am thankful for my itouch. Without it, I would NEVER exercise...for reals. Thank you, itouch, for keeping me only semi-fat and not REALLY really fat.

I am thankful for my HUSBAND who is so wonderful to me and works so hard for our family. He is always so optimistic and upbeat about everything- I seriously don't know how I would function without him. He is truly my best friend. I love you, hubs.

Do I really even need to explain this one? I think not!

You changed my life, baby girl!

I am EVER so thankful for all of our FRIENDS and FAMILY, new and old. We seriously have a great group of people we can always count on. Nguyen and I both have held onto our childhood friends which I think is just amazing. In fact, these bonds are past the point of friendship...we consider them our family. I can't forget to mention all of our new friends we have made in the past year and a half. WOW. Some of the most incredible people in the world! We are lucky, indeed!
.
As for our blood-related family?!! We have some of the best. Some of the most supportive, loving, caring people in the universe. Yep-that's our family!! Love you all!!

I am thankful for ELEMENTARY school which I will be registering my sweet boy for in three short weeks. Yep, that's right. I'll be pitching a tent in front of our local elementary school the night before with my thermos full of hot chocolate (seriously) Can you believe it? The things we have to do to get our kids into a good school!

It's bittersweet for me as this signifies the end of him lounging around the house all day with me watching Dora the Explorer. Maybe I'll actually be able to get some stuff done now? Oh wait- I still have Gabs ;)

I am thankful for Down syndrome...yeah really- I am. I am thankful that my baby is happy, healthy, and has Down syndrome. I know I know... how can I be thankful for something deemed as a disability? That's easy to answer. We don't think about Down syndrome as a disability around these parts. Gabby does whatever Gabby wants to do. Nothing about her is "disabled." Her personality is quirky, witty, and just plain fun. Without Down syndrome, Gabby wouldn't be "Gabby" and, well... this little girl is amazing and not a day goes by where I don't say that out loud. I am so SO thankful for this child and her 47 chromosomes.

This is an easy one. I am thankful for the sweetest, most gentle and loving boy in the whole world- Cameron. As if being his sweet self wasn't enough of a gift to me, he has also taught me to be a better person, to be patient, and to love in a way that I never knew was possible.

I am thankful for Brothers. Gabby's most favorite person in the whole entire world is her Bub. If he is in the room with her, there is no stopping her. She will wiggle, scream, cry, and crawl as fast as her little arms and legs will let her to get to where he is. No one can make her laugh the way her big brother can...even if it's laughing about nothing at all. He can simply look at her and she will burst out in giggles. I am so thankful Gabby has such a sweet big brother that will love her and protect her forever.

Cathy, over at "A Walk in Lily's Garden" came up with a great idea to blog about what she is thankful for in the month of November, A to Z. At first I thought it was a great idea, just not one I wanted to commit to. However, as I read through all of my friends posts out in the blogging world (and there are a lot of them, believe me!) I have found that many have decided to follow Cathy's lead and I have really enjoyed reading them.

.

SO, that being said...I'll be a copycat and do the same. I'm starting in mid-November (whoa...is it really?) so I'll have to play a bit of catch-up! Bear with me!

I am thankful for ADVOCACY. Never in my life have I felt the need to advocate for anything, really. We'll go ahead and call that selfishness on my part. It's okay...I can admit it. Anyway, it feels good to spread awareness and FIGHT for people who need help. More people should join the advocating train. The world would definitely be a better place!
