A few days ago I was talking to Nguyen on the phone while he was at work. Cameron came over and decided he wanted to talk as well. They talked for a few moments and then Cameron handed the phone back over to me. He started to walk away but at the last moment, turned around and screamed into the phone speaker, "STAY FOCUSED!"

1/28/10 While Cameron was playing legos, he looked up at me for a moment and said, "Remember on Christmas Eve when I opened that one present and it was jammies and I was sad?" I acknowledged that I did, indeed, remember the incident. He continued with "I'm glad you still love me even though I was upset. I love my jammies now."

2/4/10 Cameron was having a fit about WHO KNOWS and finally I said to him, "Cameron, you really need to stop whining like a baby," to which he firmly replied "I am NOT whining like a baby...I am whining like a BIG BOY!"

2/7/10 Cameron and my mom were baking cookies and my mom was trying to show Cameron how to drop the dough onto the cookie sheet with a spoon and a little push of his finger. He quickly got the hang of it and told us he was using his "action fingers" to get the job done.

3/4 On the way home from T-Ball pictures, Cameron asked us "Is Gabby gonna have that Down syndrome?" I was confused as we really haven't had the conversation about what Ds is just yet (I didn't think he was ready or would understand.) So, I replied with, "Well, yeah...she has Down syndrome. Why do you ask?" to which he replied, "Well are we going to have a party for her?" Again, I was confused so I asked, "You mean like a party to celebrate her having Down syndrome?" to which he responded with "YEAH!" Nguyen and I chuckled as I told Cameron we could TOTALLY have a Ds party. He then asked, "So can we give her the Down syndrome at the party, then?"

11/26 During Thanksgiving dinner we went around the table and said what we were thankful for. Cameron also started to educate us on Pilgrims and Indians. I asked him "What did the Pilgrims do" and without missing a beat he said, "stole all the land from the Indians."

11/28 Cameron is at that curious age where EVERY question is followed by a "Why?" and every response to the "why" is then also followed by a "why?" We have been answering his questions as best we can but after about the fourth or fifth "why" I tend to drop the "well, why do YOU think?" line to which Cameron always responds with, "Aw, just FORGET about it!"

12/6 For whatever reason, Cameron has started referring to Train Conductors as "Seductors." He tells me almost on a daily basis that he is going to be a "Seductor" when he grows up. Nice.

10/16 On the way home from the Harvest Festival I hear Cameron shout "eeeew!" I asked him what was wrong and he said "oh nevermind...I thought I had something slimy on my jeans...on my APPLE BOTTOM jeans."

10/18 Cameron discovered a small air freshner disc in the cup holder of my car, about the size of a nickel. He asked me what it was and I told him it was an "air freshner." Next thing I know, he is sticking it in his ear. I quickly realized my mistake in not pronouncing my words more clearly. He thought I said "EAR freshner."

10/30 After watching Cameron jump around the living room, it was apparent he needed to use the restroom. He tends to hold it for as long as possible and HATES to sit in the bathroom alone. I asked him to come along with me to the bathroom as I had to go too (been drinking LOTS of water lately-yay me!) and he agreed. I went first and flushed when I was finished. I said, "okay Cameron- your turn!" He walked in and took a big whiff and said "ahh...I like the smell of your pee, mom...it smells like cereal!" (I know that's gross but it was funny!) so then he proceeds to go potty himself and as he is doing his business says "let's see how mine smells!" (meanwhile, I am laughing so hard, I'm crying.) He finishes and says "yep. Mine smells like cereal also. Why don't you take a whiff?!" I couldn't stop laughing. As he watched me in hysterics, he said "that's obnoxious."
11/22 While I was cooking dinner Cameron sat at the counter and played as he watched me. He says to me, "Mom, are you attracted to police officers?" I just stared at him in disbelief. I still haven't figured out where he learned the word "attracted" or how he knew to use it in that context.

11/23 Cameron and Nguyen were watching TV and Cameron, out of nowhere, looks at Nguyen and asks, "Dad, to we have chicken meat inside of us?"

10/5 Cameron was noticing that Journey (the dog we're watching for the week) has lots of nipples. He told me "Journey has a lot of baby bottles on her belly."

10/9 After school Cameron hopped in the shower (our new ritual to ward off winter germs) and after about twenty minutes I told him it was time to get out so we could eat lunch. He asked why we weren't going out to eat at a restaurant to which I relpied, "because we need to save money." He looked at me seriously for a minutes and said "Live better. Wal-Mart."

10/11 Gabby is often referred to as "Little" in our house thanks to her big brother. This afternoon, I asked Gabby, "What's wrong, Little?" and out of nowhere, Cameron- who was off in his playroom but still within earshot says "the cat and the fiddle." This continued throughout the day anytime he heard me address "Little"..."the cat and the fiddle!!"

10/13 Today we got flu shots and it was...eventful (thanks to a terrified Cameron.) On the way home, Cameron was crying and crying and crying, obviously being dramatic about the experience. I, for one, was irritated that he put up such a fuss and told him so. Cameron kept trying to convince me that he should get a trip to the toy store for getting his shot and I was quick to inform him that he by no means demonstrated behavior that warranted a trip to the toy store (seriously guys...it was a SCENE!) Then, through tears he told me "you know what mom-I'm GREAT and that's why I should get a new toy!"

10/2 I was upset to find that Cameron had ignored my request that he pick up the 547 pieces of construction paper he threw all over the dining room floor. I looked at him with disapointment and said, "Cameron, when I ask you to do something, I expect you to do it and not ignore me." He replied with a sigh, "Mom...I'm still the same ole' boy."

.
9/30 As Cameron was resting on the couch in the evening, preparing for bedtime, he shot up quickly and looked at me with a bright eyed blank stare and said "are you thinking what I'm thinking?"

.
9/30 While Cameron was watching his morning cartoons, I gave him a big wet kiss on the cheek as I walked past him. He turned, looked at me and said "that made me sooo happy."

.
9/29 we had a friend come over with her Great Dane that we would be dogsitting while she was away on her honeymoon. She also brought along her chihuahua, "Hemi." While we were out in the backyard chatting, the dogs were chasing eachother. Cameron asked me, "Mom, why is that big dog chasing the chika-wa-wa?"

.
9/20 While driving in the car Cameron says to me "Mom, when you're a baby again, I am going to put you in a carseat and drive you around."
